Dan Palmer brings over 20+ years of volleyball coaching and training experience to MAVA. Dan got his start coaching volleyball as a student assistant at the University of Louisville under legendary coach Don Hardin where the team was twice Metro Conference Champions. Dan’s other collegiate and high school coaching stops include Bellarmine University’s head coach for 10 years, Assumption High School assistant coach for 8 years, and Holy Cross High School head coach for 2 years. He was a major part in Assumption’s first 6 State Championships in addition to a State Runner-Up and Semifinalist finish. While at Holy Cross High School, he led the team to the State Tournament Semifinals. Dan has also had great success at the club volleyball level where his teams have placed numerous times at the national tournament including gold medal finishes in 13U, 14U, 18U and 4 times in the 17U division. Dan has trained, coached, and helped place over 150 NCAA Division I athletes as well as numerous athletes at other collegiate levels. He is particularly known around the coaching ranks to be one of the best setter trainers in the country.
Liz is from Louisville, KY with an extensive playing career for KIVA Club and Mercy Academy for HS where she played several positions throughout. Liz continued her playing career at Georgetown College in Georgetown, KY. She has always been known as a fierce competitor in anything she takes on. Liz coached at Mercy Academy as Varsity Assistant and is pleased to begin her club coaching career at MAVA. She is also an RN/BSN for Baptist East Hospital.
Paige Sutton is from Louisville, KY and attended Mercy Academy for HS and Spalding University for her Undergrad and Masters degrees. She received a undergraduate degree of Bachelor in Health Sciences and a Graduate Degree of Master of Science in Occupational Therapy. Paige played volleyball through HS and College, as well as played for MAVA during her club career, w20 years of playing experience. Along the way, she received several high honors in her playing career, including MVP of the National Tournament her Freshman year of college, winning the National Title of their division. In 2011, Paige coached alongside Ron Kordes KIVA 14 Red to win an AAU National Championship. Paige began coaching at MAVA in the 2016-2017 Club Season as head coach of 18 Select with her husband Nick as her assistant.
Nick Sutton, also from Louisville, went to St. Xavier High School and then onto the University of Kentucky where he played for the men's volleyball program. Nick began his coaching career as an assistant at the University of Louisville under coach Leonid Yelin for 2 years. He also coached alongside Dan Palmer for 7 years at Bellarmine University. He has won multiple 17U Open National Championships and helped place many NCAA Division 1 athletes as well as numerous other athletes at other collegiate levels. Nick continues to play in several competitive open level volleyball tournaments.
