12 Blue Starts Club Season in Style
January 16, 2010

The 12 year old division of the MAVA Kick Off Classic belonged to MAVA 12 Blue from the start as it won GOLD by going 5-0 in the season?s first tournament.
Coaches Kerri Wilkinson and Chris Hellman had the girls ready to play early on Saturday morning, beating MAVA 12 Mako and MAVA 12 Tiger. The final match of the day saw our Blue Team face off against MAVA 12 Red. Our girls did not disappoint and took the crossover in two sets. The victory placed 12 Blue in the Gold Bracket Semifinals on Sunday.
Once again, it was an early wake up call for the girls, and they responded with another straight set victory against MAVA 12 Black. Standing in the way from the championship was the first match against a non-MAVA team, KIVA 12 White. 12 Blue would have their way with the cross-town rivals and easily won the first game 25-15.
However, that excitement was short lived as KIVA bounced back to win the second set almost as convincingly 25-16, forcing a deciding set for Gold. This game was back and forth with each team going on mini runs early. KIVA took an 11-8 lead and things didn?t look too good, but the girls from 12 Blue regained their early form and went on a run if their own capturing the GOLD 15-12.
Congratulations to the Players, Coaches, Parents, and Fans for bringing home the first GOLD of the season in the first tournament of the season. GO MAVA, GO MAVA, GO!!!
