MAVA 15 Elite Wins 16 Open Silver Division in Ice Breaker
January 30, 2010

after having a tough pool in 16 open division of the icebreaker touranment this past weekend mava 15 elite managed to finish a respectable 3rd in their pool. we had a rematch with the union 16-1 team who beat us the previous weekend in the union classic in two games.
on saturday without coach tim cox there for that match, beth cox guided mava 15 elite to take a game off of union and force a game three. even though mava elite lost in 3 games we made progress by forcing union to 3 games. if they had won without me coach tim cox said, then i obviously wasn't going to show up for the rest of the day.
we finished third in our pool after losing to a scrappy kiva 14 red team but then beat up on another team. we then had to play mava 16 hammerhead in the semifinals of the silver division and took care of business in two games to cruise in the final game over velocity 16-1 from lexington. all the girls played great said coach tim and beth.
then on sunday mava 15 elite played in the central zone shootout #2 and went 3-0 in pool play and then had to play circle city 15 purple who had a huge front line. we were smaller but mightier and winning 25-10 the first game really surprised against a team like that. we then knew they would come back hard and we lost the second game. in the third game we were down 13-7 and then kezie horecny served 8 straight points to make a miraculous comeback which was awesome and our girls were so excited and so were the coaches in pulling off a 15-13 game three win.
we then had to play a rematch with our mava 16 hammerhead team who was playing really good that day and we won in a close three game match 15-13 in the third game.
we played great on sunday and we are making good progress towards a successful season said coach cox. congrats to our girls this past weekend for a great weekend. now onward to dayton for the presidents cup.
